Safety in Prague — reported risks & precautions

The dominant Prague risk is the bill. Billing disputes in the Wenceslas Square / Ve Smečkách club strip are the classic scam in the file — known cases run from a 400-CZK padded-drink flag (active, July 2025) to four-figure totals in quarantine-era cases ($1,500 at one strip club, €175 at another). Fresh citywide scam-signal observations run through 2026.

The bill scam, priced

The mechanics: drinks you didn’t count, "services" added at settlement, pressure at the till. The 400-CZK Goldfingers flag (July 2025, active) is the small end; the quarantined cases ($1,500 and €175 totals from the same strip) are where the pattern ends when nobody agrees prices at the door. The defence is mechanical: in clubs, treat the 500-CZK lady drink as the only price you accept without a number attached; in priváts, the September 2026 entries show posted prices (1,200–3,000 CZK) — anything unposted is a conversation to have before, not after.

Street and privát layer

Charles Square street work (500–1,000 CZK tier) carries the usual street risks — rushed arrangements, no recourse — plus scam-signal flags in the 2026 citywide batch. The privát layer’s failure mode is simpler: photos that don’t match the door, rooms that don’t match the photos. The January 2026 entries from the Křižíkova and Plzeňská areas carry explicit scam-signal notes; the bot keeps the current venue-level flag set.

Universal precautions

  • Tell someone you trust where you are; share live location if the environment feels off.
  • Keep cash for a taxi home separate from your night-out budget.
  • Decide your limits before drinking — alcohol and negotiation do not mix well.
  • If something feels wrong, leave. No deal is worth your safety.
