Seoul nightlife: sex prices, districts & legality

Data current as of 2026-09.

Seoul is the most expensive and the least forgiving scene in the Korea cities we cover: buying is a crime under the 2004 Special Law, yet 51 of our 54 dated observations are from 2026 — the market is alive and closely watched. It splits into two tiers: Gangnam room salons (private hostess rooms booked by the group) quote ₩600,000–1,100,000 short time, while the Sillim budget layer starts below ₩100,000. Overnight across the city runs ₩330,000–500,000. Built on 63 reports, 52 of them from the last six months; the newest is from September 1, 2026.

Two price universes

Gangnam is the premium universe: single short-time quotes have reached ₩1,700,000, the consensus band for a solid booking is ₩260,000–500,000, and tips alone add ₩50,000–100,000. Sillim is the opposite — entry-level listings from roughly ₩37,000–75,000, and, curiously, part of that market still quotes in Japanese yen (¥5,000–10,000), a trace of tour-bus traffic from Japan. Miari and Yeongdeungpo hold what remains of the old red-light format, both logged as volume-declining through 2026.

Citywide short time spans ₩75,000–230,000 — a 3× spread that is really two markets averaged together. That spread is the single biggest thing to understand about Seoul before spending anything.

What the risk looks like here

Two safety signals dominate the Seoul reporting: police raids and billing scams, both logged in 2026. Raids in 2026 hit the Gangnam and Sillim layers in waves rather than continuously — enforcement pressure rises, then resets. The scam pattern targets foreigners in grey-market rooms: inflated bills with no lawful way to dispute them, precisely because the whole transaction is illegal to begin with. The bot tracks which venues carry active scam flags.
